Module 1 - Introduction
In this module, we will discover the important role sketching plays in the development of a composition. Sketching is a foundational practice in drawing, serving as both a form of visual thinking and a method for artists to quickly capture the essence of their subject. This module will explore the technique of sketching and focus on its importance when starting a drawing composition.

Sketch: A rough or unfinished drawing, often made to assist in the making of a more finished picture.
Module Goal.
This module will introduce the technique of sketching and examine the sketching methods employed by Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo. When you compete this module, you will be able to explain the role sketching plays in the development of a composition and be able to apply this technique to your own still-life drawing.
