DRAWING 101
Stippling
Module 4 - Evaluation
Now that we have explored the finer workings of the stippling technique it's time to evaluate what you have learned from this module. This evaulation will be a combination of a discussion activity, a connect activity, and a drawing assignment utilizing the technique.
Discussion.
(5pts)
In our last module we finished with an assignment which utilized the technique of contour drawing. We discussed several methods to approach contour drawing in order to establish the form of your still-life subjects. In this module, I want you to share your work with your classmates. I am excited to see the variety of contour drawing approaches that you all may have utilized in your compositions.
Upload your three drawings from Module 3 for your peers to view and critique. You must critique at least two classmates' compositions.
Formative Assessment:
Let's See What You've Learned.
(5pts)
Let's connect our learning of this module with what we already know. This is called a Connect Activity which will help bridge what you learned in this module to your everyday knowledge. In this activity, I want you to research examples of stippling used in compositions and ponder the following questions regarding your findings. How is stippling used to create three-dimensional depth in your examples? How might pointillism look differently if used in the examples you found? Have you utilized the stippling technique before and if so, what was your experience? If not, what are your initial reactions to the use of stippling in creating depth in a composition?
When you have finished your paper, email it to me by using the email address in the footer below. Feel free to write up your paper with any word processing software of your choice, but I will need to have a Word Doc or PDF emailed to me so I can view on my end.
The paper will need to be double spaced and needs to be named with your name. For proper submission requirements please view the Support page here.
I look forward to your responses!
Summative Assessment.
(10pts)

This module explored the technique of stippling and now it's time to put our knowledge of this technique to good use! Using the patience-testing stippling technique discussed in this module, apply it to the same three still-life items from Module 1, 2, & 3 using your sketchbook. When finished, upload them for review.
When you have finished, email them to me by using the email address in the footer below.
