DRAWING 101
Hatching
Module 2 - Summary
Hatching and Cross-hatching are great techniques to utilize when defining depth and lighting. Both hatching and cross-hatching are versatile techniques, applicable across various mediums, from pen and ink to graphite and print making. These techniques empower artists to manipulate light and shadow, breathe life into their compositions, and convey emotion and narrative with remarkable subtlety.
In the next module we will discover the technique contour drawing. Similar to how sketching allows us to define the form of our subject, contour drawing does the same but with the intention of only defining the form. Sketching is utilized as a beginning step, whereas contour drawing can be the beginning and end within itself. You will discover within Module 3 the technique of contour drawing and how it can translate to three-dimensional art! Intrigued? Good! Click the "next" button to begin your foray into contour drawing.
